Social Media Erupts As Yul Edochie Questions Obi’s Ability To End Poverty

Yul Edochie has stirred controversy after questioning the identity and leadership qualities of Peter Obi.

In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, the actor argued that the former Anambra State governor does not reflect what he described as the true values of the Igbo people. He claimed Obi lacks the leadership traits expected of someone seeking to lead the country.

Edochie further alleged that Obi has not significantly impacted those around him, including his own family, suggesting that this raises doubts about his ability to address poverty on a national scale.

Referencing the Igbo principle of “onye aghana nwanne ya” (no one should leave their brother behind), Edochie said true leadership involves uplifting others while progressing personally.

He also compared Obi’s influence to his own, stating that individuals within the film industry can attest to benefiting from his support, unlike what he claimed about the former presidential candidate.

Edochie concluded that a person who cannot improve the lives of people within their immediate circle would struggle to deliver broader economic transformation for the country.

Meanwhile, Obi remains a prominent opposition figure with a strong support base, particularly among young Nigerians and in the South-East region.
