Social Media On Fire As Wizkid Insults Seun Kuti In Fela Comparison Drama

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has hit back at Seun Kuti amid an ongoing dispute over comparisons with the late Afrobeat icon, Fela Kuti.

The disagreement began after Seun Kuti openly rejected claims that Wizkid is “bigger” or “more influential” than his father, arguing that such comparisons undermine Fela’s legacy. According to Seun, Fela’s significance as a political and cultural revolutionary transcends musical success alone.

Seun also criticised Wizkid’s fans for frequently invoking Fela’s name in online arguments, describing the practice as disrespectful. He further stated that equating present-day commercial success with Fela’s historic influence reflects a misunderstanding of history.

While acknowledging Wizkid’s accomplishments as an artiste, Seun questioned why comparisons with Fela were necessary in the first place. He also raised concerns about Wizkid’s use of the nickname “Big Bird,” claiming it had long been associated with him and should not be adopted by others.

In response, Wizkid took to Instagram to defend himself, dismissing the comparisons to Fela and asserting that he considers himself bigger in terms of modern-day success. He accompanied his stance with a series of strongly worded posts directed at Seun Kuti.
