An Army patrol vehicle in Edo State fell victim to an attack by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday, resulting in the tragic death of a soldier and the theft of bags suspected to contain cash.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The gunmen executed their assault by driving an unmarked Toyota Camry against the traffic flow, directly confronting the military vehicle. Two of the four occupants of the Camry reportedly disembarked and opened fire on the soldiers.

In response, the three soldiers quickly abandoned their patrol vehicle and the sacks it contained, opting to flee on foot to evade the attackers.

Eyewitnesses on the scene recounted that one of the soldiers was injured during the incident. The armed individuals seized the bags from the patrol van after the soldiers had made their escape.

According to a shop owner present during the attack, “One of the three soldiers fell while running away, he tried to get up, but he couldn’t, he was bleeding. Later, his two other colleagues came to meet him but they were helpless.”

Confirming the occurrence, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the state Police Public Relations Officer, reported that the incident had been brought to the attention of the police station responsible for the area.

He stated, “The Edo State Police Command can confirm that a soldier was killed on Wednesday in Benin City. A good Nigerian reported the incident at the police station covering that neighborhood. The hoodlums carted away bags believed to have been loaded with cash kept inside the Army van.”
