Soludo made this declaration during his attendance at the Ofala Festival of Obi Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, the monarch of the Onitsha Ancient Kingdom, popularly known as Agbogidi.
In his address to the people of Onitsha, Soludo emphasized the historical significance of what was once recognized as Greater Onitsha, encompassing five local government areas in present-day Anambra.
He stressed that this region played a crucial role in the development of Igbo civilization, and for progress in Igbo land, it is essential for Onitsha to lead the way.
Soludo stated, ‘We extend our warm regards to Agbogidi on the occasion of this year’s Ofala Festival, marking his 22nd anniversary on the throne. I admire the manner in which the people of Onitsha celebrate the Onitsha Ofala. It is a valuable cultural tradition.’
‘Onitsha is the pride of the Igbo people, and for the Igbo community to advance, Onitsha must also advance. That’s why we are working diligently to revitalize this thriving city, which is a beacon for the Igbo.’
‘Our commitment is to eliminate the presence of thugs and troublemakers in Onitsha. We will soon take action against them. While we may not know the origin of those who have come to exert control over Onitsha, we will continue to remove them.’
‘In the coming weeks, a significant security operation will be launched in Onitsha, marking a crucial turning point,’ Soludo declared.”
