Southern Governors’ Forum Selects Abiodun As Chairman

Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, was elected as the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum during a meeting held in Abeokuta on Monday. His counterpart from Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo, was chosen as the Vice Chairman. The forum represents the 17 governors from the South-West, South-South, and South-East regions of Nigeria. In attendance were governors from various southern states including Edo, Oyo, Abia, Lagos, Osun, Ebonyi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, and Cross River. Representatives from Imo, Delta, and Ondo states also participated in the meeting. Notably absent was Rivers State, which had no representation.

The governors conducted a closed-door meeting lasting approximately five hours at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta. Governor Abiodun expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and Prof Soludo, promising to uphold the forum’s interests and aspirations. They discussed a wide range of issues aimed at advancing the collective interests of southern states.
