Naija News reports that DSS staff were seen celebrating Bichi’s removal, announced by President Bola Tinubu, in a viral video. This sentiment was echoed by other notable figures. Austin Okai, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain from Kogi State, criticized Bichi’s appointment, attributing it to alleged nepotism by former President Muhammadu Buhari. Okai labeled Bichi as one of the worst to lead the DSS.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, who had been detained by DSS under Bichi, commented that the staff’s jubilation indicated Bichi’s failure in his role. Sowore also accused the DSS staff of performing unethical tasks under Bichi’s leadership and expressed concerns about the potential for similar issues with the current Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, viewed Bichi’s departure as a positive development for Kanu. Ejimakor highlighted that both Bichi and Ahmed Rufai, the former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), were allegedly involved in Kanu’s extraordinary rendition.
