Steve Chuks Reveals Tense Moment Involving Fan’s Insecure Husband At Lagos Party
Popular skit maker and content creator Steve Chuks has recounted an awkward encounter he had with a fan’s husband at a Lagos all-white party, describing the incident as embarrassing and uncomfortable.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Chuks shared the experience on his Instagram page after attending the event over the weekend. He explained that a woman who recognised him from his skits approached him excitedly and called his name.
Chuks said he reached out to hug the woman because she was a follower who had supported his work on social media. However, while they were exchanging the hug, he received what he described as a heavy tap on his back from a man standing nearby.
“As I’m giving her a hug, someone taps me at the back, with the most heavy tap. And I turn to him, I’m like, ‘Hello, excuse me?’ He’s like, ‘I said leave here,’” Chuks recounted.
He said he initially struggled to understand the man’s reaction until one of his friends informed him that the man was the woman’s husband.
Chuks further explained that the woman did not immediately tell her husband that she knew him through social media and had approached him because she was a fan of his work.
“I’m looking at the woman like, at what point are you going to tell this man that, ‘Oh sorry honey, it’s someone I know on social media. Someone I love and watch on social media.’ She didn’t say anything,” he said.
The content creator said he almost responded in a manner that could have escalated the situation and ruined the event, but chose to restrain himself.
He added that the incident left him embarrassed and also made him feel sorry for the woman, whom he believed was caught in an uncomfortable situation because of her husband’s reaction.
Chuks also questioned why a man he described as being in his late 50s would feel uncomfortable about his wife hugging someone she recognised from social media.
He subsequently advised women whose partners may react similarly to avoid approaching him for hugs at public gatherings. Instead, he suggested that they simply greet him to prevent unnecessary misunderstandings or uncomfortable situations.
