Stop The Panic! Shinkafi Labels Emergency Rule Advocates In Zamfara As ‘Expired Politicians’
Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a former governorship aspirant in Zamfara State and Patron of the Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (2023), has strongly criticized recent calls for the declaration of a state of emergency in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued to the press, Shinkafi dismissed these calls as a ploy by desperate, election-defeated politicians who are seeking to usurp power through unconstitutional means in order to exploit public resources and further impoverish the people.
He urged President Bola Tinubu and all defenders of democracy to disregard these demands, stressing that they are politically motivated distractions aimed at derailing the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal.
“We are fully aware of the tactics employed by these expired political figures,” Shinkafi said. “Their only goal is to destabilize Zamfara and distract Governor Lawal from his mandate since assuming office on May 29, 2023.”
According to him, these actors are driven by selfish interests and are willfully ignorant of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which outlines clear and stringent conditions under which a state of emergency can be declared or a sitting governor removed.
“The proposal to appoint a sole administrator is unconstitutional and anti-democratic,” he emphasized. “Zamfara State does not meet any of the constitutional criteria necessary for such drastic action. Fueling political tension under false pretenses is reckless and unnecessary.”
Shinkafi reaffirmed that Nigeria is a nation governed by law, not by force or intimidation. “There is no room for dictatorship or autocratic rule in a constitutional democracy. President Tinubu, a true democrat, has taken an oath to uphold the Constitution and will not be swayed by political opportunists seeking to override the will of the people,” he concluded.
