Sule Breaks Silence After Wike Names APC Governors Fighting Rainbow Coalition

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has expressed relief after his name was left out of the list of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors whom Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accused of opposing his Rainbow Coalition.

Sule made the remark during a television interview while reacting to the growing disagreement between Wike and some APC governors over the coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike had identified Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun as the APC governors he said were having issues with his political activities.

Reacting to the development, Sule said he was grateful that he was not among those named by the FCT minister.

“Thank God I’m not on that list. I feel relieved that I’m not on Wike’s list of APC governors fighting the Rainbow Coalition,” Sule said.

The Nasarawa governor further questioned the political arrangement surrounding Wike’s support for President Bola Tinubu, noting that Wike is not an APC member despite serving in the APC-led federal administration.

According to Sule, Wike’s decision to support Tinubu while operating outside the APC could be viewed as an alliance involving individuals and groups across political parties.

“What’s the whole essence of an alliance?” Sule asked, while suggesting that the position of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) may have been misunderstood.

The comments come amid an increasingly public disagreement between Wike and the leadership of the APC Governors Forum over the Rainbow Coalition. Wike has maintained that the coalition is intended to mobilise support for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election across political parties, while the APC governors have raised concerns about political arrangements that could affect the party and its candidates.

Wike has specifically accused Uzodimma, AbdulRazaq and Abiodun of opposing the coalition, while saying that several other APC governors have no issue with his initiative.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the dispute reflects the widening political debate over how cross-party alliances could operate alongside the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections.
