A video circulated online shows the suspects being detained and paraded by genuine officers. In the footage, a female officer expresses disbelief, remarking on the impostors’ uniforms and rank. She is heard saying, “With police uniform o. With police uniform, wearing inspector rank,” and adds, “Wahala. Lagos don turn to another thing.”
The video also features male officers displaying the firearms that the impersonators were carrying. One officer remarks, “Hey, him don use am o,” suggesting the guns may have recently been fired.
The precise intentions of the impersonators are unclear, but it is suspected they were using their fake police identities to rob or extort citizens. Watch the video below for more details.
