Suspected Cultist Captured By Rivers Police For Alleged Murder Of Two Individuals
The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended Samuel Nwokoma, a notable figure in the cultist circles, aged 25, following intensive investigations. Naija News reports that Nwokoma’s arrest comes on the heels of credible intelligence implicating him in a spate of homicides and armed robberies across the Diobu locality of Port Harcourt and adjacent areas within Rivers State.
Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the command, revealed in a statement issued on Tuesday that the successful operation was the result of a collaborative effort between the police’s C4i Strike Force and local vigilante units.
Nwokoma and his accomplices allegedly perpetrated multiple violent attacks between March 14 and March 17, 2024, resulting in the deaths of two individuals: Ede Sunday, aged 32, and George Johnson, aged 28.
“Nwokoma has been linked to a series of cult-related homicides in the Diobu vicinity of Port Harcourt,” disclosed Iringe-Koko in her statement.
During interrogation, Nwokoma confessed to his direct involvement in the killings of Sunday and Johnson, shedding light on the gang’s brutal modus operandi.
Despite receiving prompt medical attention, Johnson tragically succumbed to his injuries sustained from a gunshot wound to the chest, highlighting the grave repercussions of the gang’s actions.
The apprehension of Nwokoma led law enforcement authorities to the gang’s hideout at Ogwu Waterside in Diobu, Port Harcourt, where a significant discovery was made.
Although some gang members managed to evade capture, the police seized a substantial arsenal of weapons and ammunition, including three AK-47 rifles.
