Eight family members who ate the dish, known as Amala, were taken to three different medical facilities for treatment. Of these, six were diagnosed with multiple organ failure and later died from related complications. The remaining two individuals received medical care and have been discharged.
In response, the Kogi State Ministry of Health has formed a committee to investigate the suspected food poisoning. Commissioner for Health, Hon.
