In a statement addressing the suspension, Akpoti-Uduaghan strongly criticized the decision, stating that it undermines the principles of natural justice, fairness, and equity. She asserted, “Against the culture of silence, intimidation, and victim-shaming, my unjust suspension from the Nigerian Senate disregards the fundamental principles of justice and fairness.”
She further emphasized that the suspension holds no legal weight in stripping her of her mandate as an elected senator.
“This unlawful suspension does not affect my legitimacy as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I remain committed to serving my constituents and my country diligently until 2027 and beyond,” she declared.
