According to reports, the incident—captured in a now-viral video—has stirred fresh concerns amid the intensifying political unrest in Rivers State.

The footage shows four young men dismantling the billboard, which prominently displayed images of Fubara and Ihunwo, the former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. While the exact location of the event remains unverified, the billboard is seen towering over a bustling roadway.

In the video, one of the youths can be heard directing others, saying, “Even from the down, tear it from that side, it will come down. I will bring the new one,”—suggesting plans to replace the banner after its removal. Another voice addresses someone as “Honourable,” further fueling speculation about the political undertone of the act.

A female voice is also audible in the background as one youth climbs the billboard structure and begins tearing at the display, with others quickly joining in. The three-minute clip ends with the billboard completely stripped bare.

The destruction is widely believed to be a reflection of the ongoing political feud in Rivers State, rooted in the deepening rift between Governor Fubara and his estranged political mentor, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
