Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Soli argued that Tinubu received poor advice on the tax reform bills, leading to flaws in the drafting process.

“Let’s be fair to Mr. President. For a leader to make decisions, he must rely on advice. I believe the president was misguided, and the people who drafted these bills did a poor job. They even referred to the bills as acts, which is a clear drafting error,” Soli stated.

He insisted that the bills did not undergo proper legislative drafting procedures, emphasizing that professional input was missing from the process.

Soli also noted that the northern region acted on the bill in Nigeria’s best interest, rather than for regional gain.

He praised Tinubu’s leadership style, stating that the President, upon realizing the controversy surrounding the bills, subjected them to extensive review and scrutiny.

“Bola Tinubu is a seasoned politician. Once he saw that the bills could cause problems, he allowed governors, the Senate, the Attorney General, and the House of Representatives to carefully examine them before taking further action,” he explained.
