Telecom Tariff Hike: Minister Sparks Controversy In Talks With Operators Details
The Minister of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has called a meeting with key representatives from major telecommunications companies to discuss the ongoing demand for a tariff adjustment in the telecom sector.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The meeting, which began earlier today, included participants from top telecom operators such as MTN Nigeria, Airtel, Globacom, and 9Mobile.
Representatives from key government agencies, including the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), were also present.
Recently, telecom companies have pushed for a tariff increase, citing economic challenges such as the removal of fuel subsidies and the naira’s floating exchange rate.
However, the government, through the NCC, has reiterated that operators still have room to operate within the existing 2013 tariff price floor framework.
