Ten Individuals Arrested In Connection With Tragic Death Of Female Student At FUOYE

The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended ten individuals in connection with the untimely demise of a female student from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The university’s administration had previously reported the disappearance of Modupe Deborah Atanda, a 200-Level student in the Department of Nursing, on Wednesday. Later in the same day, her lifeless body was tragically discovered in a shallow grave located within the university premises.

The university also reaffirmed that investigations were ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

However, the latest information received by the university’s security authorities has confirmed the unfortunate passing of the student.

The statement from the university read, “Earlier today (Wednesday), the Management had made public the disturbing development of the missing of the deceased and assured that investigation was ongoing as to unravel her whereabouts.

But current information reaching the security outfit of the University has disclosed that the said student is dead. While we condole with the deceased family and the generality of the University community, particularly our dear students, the Management reiterated that investigation is still ongoing and this is being done in collaboration with national security agencies with a view to getting to the root of the sad development and bringing to book the culprits. We, therefore, appeal to students and all other stakeholders to remain calm.”

In the meantime, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dare Ogundare, has ordered a discreet yet comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Deborah’s tragic demise.

According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Sunday Abutu, on Thursday, the student, who had been reported missing within the university premises on September 6, 2023, was later discovered deceased in a shallow grave located approximately 30 meters behind the Nursing Lecture Hall.
