Tension In LP: Gov Otti Orders IGP To Nab Abure Over Fake Suspension
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to swiftly arrest the factional National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, for impersonation. Otti made the request while dismissing the claims of his purported suspension by the Abure-led faction of the LP.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HEREā¶
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Otti described Abure as a “clown” desperately seeking power.
According to Governor Otti, Abure’s suspension announcement was not only a misguided attempt at humor but also a direct insult to democracy, orchestrated by a group of irrelevant individuals trying to exploit his name for their own selfish financial agendas.
He urged the public to ignore the supposed suspension and continue to view Abure and his supporters as a group of “clowns” chasing a position they donāt deserve.
The statement reads: āThe attention of His Excellency, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has been drawn to the news of his supposed suspension along with other prominent Labour Party leaders by Julius Abure, the former National Chairman of the Party.
āAbure’s statement, along with his team of so-called comedians, is not only an absurd joke but an attack on democracy by a group of inconsequential figures attempting to use Governor Ottiās name to further their personal economic interests.
āFor the record, the Supreme Court of Nigeria has definitively ruled that Julius Abure is no longer the National Chairman of the Labour Party. This ruling, which aligns with the party’s constitution, led to the formation of the Senator Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee, effectively stripping Abure of any authority to continue presenting himself as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.
āJust hours after being summoned by the Senator Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee to answer allegations of financial misconduct, impersonation, and anti-party activities, Abure attempted to be deceitful by hastily announcing the suspension of Governor Otti and other respected members of the party.ā
