Tension In Oyo Politics As Ajimobi Reacts To Makinde Impeachment Rumour
Former First Lady of Oyo State and ambassador-designate to Austria, Florence Ajimobi, has denied allegations that she is involved in any plan to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released by her media office, Ajimobi refuted claims that she offered or facilitated financial inducements to members of the Oyo State House of Assembly to push for Makinde’s impeachment.
She described the allegations as a targeted attempt to damage her reputation, mislead the public, and undermine her image.
Ajimobi also rejected reports suggesting she held or participated in any meeting in Lagos or elsewhere where discussions about destabilising the state government allegedly took place.
The statement partly read, “At no time did Ambassador Ajimobi convene, attend or participate in any such meeting with any individual or group for the purpose of discussing impeachment or destabilising the Oyo State Government.”
She maintained that linking her to such claims was malicious political propaganda aimed at tarnishing her reputation among the people of Oyo State and beyond.
She further stated, “Activities of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State are of no concern to me. Linking me to such a plot could only be borne out of mischief and deliberate reverse propaganda to malign my reputation.”
Her response comes after some lawmakers, including Gbenga Oyekola and Deputy Speaker Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi, also denied any involvement in alleged impeachment plans or receipt of inducements aimed at destabilising the state government.
