The altercation nearly spiraled into a full-blown clash, prompting other police officers to rally in defense of their colleague, leading to a tense standoff between the two security agencies.
According to an eyewitness who spoke with Vanguard, the conflict began when four DSS operatives stationed at the Assembly gate confronted a staff member whose vehicle had momentarily stopped to drop off a passenger.
The DSS personnel reportedly challenged the driver, citing an existing directive that prohibited vehicles from halting at the location.
A police officer attached to the Assembly intervened, explaining that the driver was a staff member. However, this reportedly enraged the DSS operatives, who abandoned the driver and turned on the policeman.

An eyewitness described the incident: “The DSS operatives immediately pounced on the policeman and assaulted him, questioning why he defended the staff member. He was only trying to clarify the situation before they attacked him.”
The situation escalated as other policemen at the Assembly rushed to their colleague’s defense, creating a scene of chaos at the legislative complex.
A senior DSS officer eventually arrived at the scene and intervened, restoring calm by instructing his men to stand down.
