Terror At Exam Centre: Gunmen Storm Kogi School, Abduct Principal And Students During NECO
Gunmen have attacked Government Secondary School, Olowa, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, abducting the school principal, four students and a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc official.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The incident reportedly occurred at about 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday while candidates were sitting for an ongoing NECO examination.
According to security sources quoted by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the armed assailants stormed the school premises, causing panic among students and staff before whisking the victims away to an unknown destination.
Following the attack, a joint team of security operatives launched a search-and-rescue operation and commenced efforts to track down the kidnappers.
Sources said one of the abducted students has since been rescued, while security agencies continue operations to secure the release of the principal, the NECO official and the remaining three students.
Authorities have yet to disclose the circumstances surrounding the student’s rescue.
Security personnel have also intensified bush-combing operations, intelligence gathering and surveillance across communities surrounding the school in a bid to locate the kidnappers’ hideout.
The ongoing operation is aimed at rescuing the remaining victims, apprehending those responsible for the attack and restoring normalcy to the affected community.
Security agencies said efforts to rescue the abductees and bring the perpetrators to justice are continuing.
