at the council chambers of the Borno State Government House in Maiduguri, Governor Zulum stressed the urgent need for necessary precautions to be implemented in order to prevent the complete destruction of Nigeria.
Governor Zulum specifically pointed out the presence of internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in various Local Government Areas of Borno State as a significant concern.
He expressed his apprehension that these camps could potentially serve as breeding grounds for recruitment by Boko Haram and ISWAP, thereby exacerbating the threat posed by these terrorist groups.
The governor emphasized that it is crucial to take immediate action to address this pressing issue and ensure the safety and security of Nigeria. He warned that failure to do so may have severe consequences for the entire nation.
He stated, “The hub of Boko Haram and ISWAP is Borno State. We have to control them. We have to stop the younger ones from being recruited into Boko Haram and ISWAP, otherwise, in the near future, the entire Nigeria will be wiped off the map.
Governor Zulum also highlighted the challenges within IDP camps, such as increased prostitution, procreation without proper care, and drug abuse, underscoring the need for intervention to help people earn their livelihoods independently and ultimately close the IDP camps.
He concluded by saying, “Otherwise, many of the people will decide to join ISWAP and Boko Haram. These people who are living in IDP camps are a matter of great concern to all of us.”
