The President Loves The North — Shettima Urges Regional Leaders To Back Tinubu In 2027

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has assured northern political leaders that the region has nothing to fear if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secures re-election in 2027, insisting that the North has benefited from the administration’s appointments, infrastructure projects and economic programmes.

Shettima gave the assurance on Monday while receiving a delegation of Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), a political support group campaigning for Tinubu’s re-election.

The Vice-President urged northern stakeholders to unite behind the administration, arguing that a second term would provide further opportunities to promote development, economic prosperity and stability across the region.

He cited the Bank of Agriculture’s reported disbursement of ₦450 billion to 700,000 smallholder farmers nationwide, stating that approximately 70 per cent of the beneficiaries were from northern Nigeria.

Shettima also said the Federal Government was working towards completing major projects across the country, expressing confidence that the administration would continue to address the North’s development needs.

“Let’s unite as a people and work for the development of our region and the progress of our people through the re-election of this administration. We are benefiting and we stand to benefit more from this government in many ways,” he said.

The Vice-President further maintained that Tinubu was committed to the region’s progress, urging political leaders to strengthen their cooperation with the government ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking during the meeting, the Director-General of A4A and former Jigawa State Governor, Abubakar Badaru, said the group would intensify its mobilisation efforts to secure support for Tinubu’s re-election.

Badaru disclosed that the organisation had held several meetings with influential political stakeholders and planned further engagements to consolidate support for the President’s second-term bid.

He added that the group would concentrate on grassroots mobilisation across local government areas and wards while supporting the activities of the Presidential Campaign Council.

Badaru explained that the organisation intended to complement the broader campaign structure by strengthening political contacts and reaching voters at the community level.

Similarly, the Chairman of the group’s Board of Trustees and former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, expressed confidence that the organisation would replicate its efforts ahead of the 2023 presidential election during the 2027 campaign.

Shekarau also invited Shettima to officially commission the organisation’s office complex as part of its preparations for the next election cycle.

The meeting was attended by several former governors and political figures, including former Plateau State governors Joshua Dariye and Simon Lalong, former Taraba State Governor Jolly Nyame, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema and former Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda.

Also present were the President’s Special Adviser on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Chairman Buba Marwa, alongside other government officials and members of the group’s leadership.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the meeting highlights efforts by Tinubu’s supporters to consolidate political backing in northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general election, with the administration’s projects and economic programmes forming a central part of their appeal to regional leaders.
