In the last general election, the LP emerged as one of the country’s most influential political parties, securing six Senate seats and 34 House of Representatives seats. Ajaero, during an interview on Channels Television, stated that the party was established to provide an opportunity for ordinary Nigerians to run for and win elections

He also highlighted that even Peter Obi, the party’s standard bearer, was not affiliated with any labor union.

Ajaero explained, “We do not owe anyone an apology for creating the Labour Party. The Labour Party was established and organized by labor unions from around the world…”

He went on to mention that during the period when Adams Oshiomole was running for governorship, the Labour Party collaborated with those who formed the APC, AD, and the ACN to support Adams, allowing for a joint ticket.

He emphasized that there was nothing wrong with the Labour Party forming alliances with other political parties during that time.
