The Reason My Critics Attack Me Relentlessly” – El-Rufai Reveals

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that the intense hatred directed at him by his critics stems from the fact that he remains unbothered by their opinions.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, El-Rufai noted that many who label him a “fundamentalist” neither know him personally nor have worked with him.

“I don’t care. Those who think I’m a fundamentalist have never met me; they’ve only formed their own opinions. Honestly, the reason my enemies hate me so vehemently is because I simply don’t care what they think. I’m comfortable with who I am, and those who have worked with me know me well,” he said on Sunday.

El-Rufai further dismissed perceptions from some quarters in Southern Kaduna that his administration was hostile towards them.

“They can think whatever they like. I don’t tolerate nonsense because governance is not a joke. When you’re leading 10 million people as I did in Kaduna, you must make tough choices. No one can blackmail me into bending the law on the basis of religion.

“There are people in Southern Kaduna who feel entitled to act in certain ways, and I dealt with them accordingly. But some of my closest allies in government are from Southern Kaduna, and they know those accusations are false,” he added.
