Senate President Godswill Akpabio has responded to the recent sexual harassment allegations leveled against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Speaking at the 2025 International Women’s Day event on Friday, Akpabio reiterated the Senate’s dedication to advancing gender equality and removing obstacles hindering women’s progress across the country.

It is worth recalling that on Thursday, March 7, the Senate suspended Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months following the recommendation of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, which found her guilty of misconduct and failure to appear before the committee.

Her suspension was linked to the sexual harassment accusations she made against the Senate President.

Akpabio, a former Minister of the Niger Delta, emphasized his long-standing relationship with Natasha’s family, stating that her husband is a close friend.

“I spent the night at the Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State, on the night of Senator Natasha’s wedding because the Kogi airport lights were in poor condition,” Akpabio revealed.
