Ndume made the claim on Thursday during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television.

According to the lawmaker, he has received several warnings advising him to be cautious about what he says on phone calls, as they may be under surveillance.

He questioned why security agencies appear unable to effectively track terrorists, despite their ability to monitor public figures. He pointed out that criminal groups boldly share evidence of their activities on platforms like TikTok without being stopped.

Ndume said it is troubling that while individuals like himself can be tracked, authorities seem to struggle to gather actionable intelligence on terrorists.

He noted that bandits and insurgents openly publicise their actions online before dispersing, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the country’s security systems.

Despite his concerns, Ndume stated that he is not personally bothered about being monitored, acknowledging the serious security situation in the country.

He argued that if journalists can obtain information about public figures, security and intelligence agencies should be even more capable of tracking the movements and activities of terrorists.

When asked directly if he believes his phone is being monitored, Ndume responded affirmatively, adding that he does not see it as a major issue given the broader security challenges facing Nigeria.
