This Ginger Looks Scary!” – Arise TV’s Vimbai Mutinhiri Raises Alarm In Viral Video

Arise TV anchor, Vimbai Mutinhiri-Ekpeyong, has voiced her concerns over the quality and origin of ginger roots currently being sold in Nigerian markets.

Earlier, Ify Rhodes-Vivour, wife of politician Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, also raised alarm about the ginger varieties available, noting they lack the usual spice and aroma. (Read here)

Echoing similar concerns in a post shared on her Instagram page, Vimbai questioned the sudden shift in the ginger market, especially the growing presence of unusually large ginger roots, allegedly imported from China.

“I’m genuinely wondering how we got to the point of importing ginger—something you can grow in your backyard,” she said. “These oversized, larger-than-life gingers from China… I can’t speak on the taste because I didn’t buy it. I’m not putting that in my body. Maybe I’m being ignorant, that’s possible—but it’s not the ginger I’m familiar with. Until I’ve done more research, I won’t be consuming it.”
