Tinubu Administration Secures Another Loan From World Bank, Details Revealed....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The World Bank has greenlit a substantial loan package of $2.25 billion for the Federal Government, with final approval slated for June 13, 2024. This financial boost, initially heralded by Finance Minister Wale Edun during the recent spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, signifies a significant opportunity for Nigeria. Edun described the loan as akin to a ‘virtually a grant’, emphasizing its favorable terms including a mere one percent interest rate.

The approved package, sanctioned by the World Bank’s Board of Directors, features a 40-year term with a generous 10-year moratorium and a nominal one-percent interest rate, making it an attractive proposition for the nation’s economic advancement.

The allocated funds will be channeled into two primary development initiatives, as outlined on the World Bank’s official website. The foremost project, the Nigeria Reforms for Economic Stabilization to Enable Transformation Development Policy Financing, is earmarked to receive $1.5 billion. Meanwhile, the NG Accelerating Resource Mobilization Reforms Programme-for-Results stands to benefit from $750 million in proposed funding.

Additionally, there are indications that the government may reintroduce certain taxes, such as excises on telecom services and the EMT levy on electronic money transfers via the Nigerian Banking System, as part of its fiscal measures. These measures aim to bolster revenue streams and ensure sustained economic growth and stability.
