As Acting Chairman, Ango will be responsible for implementing key strategies to boost revenue generation and ensure fiscal stability. Ango, who is from Kebbi State and is married with children, brings extensive experience in revenue administration and financial management.
Ogunleye highlighted Ango’s impressive background, noting his over 20 years of service in both the public and private sectors. Ango’s credentials include an LLM from Columbia University School of Law (2019), a Bachelor of Law from Ahmadu Bello University (2002), attendance at the Nigeria Law School (2003), and participation in Harvard Kennedy School’s Executive Education program in Comparative Tax Policy and Administration (2013).
His previous roles include Partner and Head of the Tax Advisory and Regulatory Services Unit at Andersen LP, Head of Legal and Stakeholder Relations at NIRSAL PLC, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at Guinness Nigeria PLC, Technical Advisor to the CEO of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, and Analyst to Manager at KPMG Professional Services Nigeria.
Ango has also served on several strategic committees, including the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, and the Fiscal Policy Reform Committee of the Ministry of Finance. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
His appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the FCT-IRS as it aims to expand its revenue base, enhance taxpayer compliance, and improve operational efficiency.
