Tinubu, Buhari, Shettima, And Osinbajo To Decide Ganduje’s Political Future

The future of Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to be a major topic at the party’s caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings scheduled for September 11 and 12. This announcement was made by the APC’s National Secretary, Dr. Surajudeen Ajibola, amid ongoing internal debates within the party.

The controversy has escalated as prominent party members, Chief Oliver Okpala and Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, engaged in a heated exchange over Ganduje’s leadership. Okpala, who is Ganduje’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment, criticized Zazzaga’s recent attacks on Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule. Sule, who chairs the North-Central APC Governors Forum, had recently expressed strong support for Ganduje’s leadership, urging unity within the party for upcoming gubernatorial elections in Edo and Ondo.

Zazzaga, representing the North Central Forum of the APC, accused Governor Sule of betraying his state and the North Central geopolitical zone by backing Ganduje. He contended that the position of national chairman should rightfully belong to the North Central zone according to the APC’s power-sharing arrangement. Zazzaga suggested that Sule’s support was motivated by personal political ambitions rather than regional interests.

In defense, Okpala argued that Sule’s endorsement of Ganduje was valid and that APC members from the North Central zone should acknowledge the merits of this support.

The upcoming meetings, to be held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, will be attended by key figures including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Sen Kashim Shettima, former President Muhammadu Buhari, and former Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo, among other senior party members.

Dr. Ajibola also confirmed that the NEC meeting will take place on September 12 at the Nicon Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
