Despite earlier warnings about underperformance, Tinubu’s cabinet had largely remained unchanged, aside from the suspension of Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. Last November, Tinubu introduced the Central Delivery Coordination Unit, led by Mrs. Hadiza Bala-Usman, to evaluate ministerial performance, stating that performance would dictate future positions.

Recent reports suggest that the reshuffle could include not only portfolio swaps but also the potential elimination of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, which was originally set up in August 2019 to coordinate humanitarian and social welfare programs. The ministry had faced allegations of corruption and inefficiency under its previous and current ministers.

Sources indicate that Tinubu aims to finalize the reshuffle before his trip to the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
