Nigerian billionaire and industrialist, Aliko Dangote, lightened the mood on Thursday when he humorously corrected a Master of Ceremonies (MC) who referred to him as the “President of Dangote Group.”

The amusing moment occurred during the commissioning of the Lekki Seaport Access Road, with President Bola Tinubu in attendance.

After the MC introduced him with the title “President,” Dangote quickly stepped in to clarify that he is the “Chairman and Chief Executive Officer” of the Dangote Group — not its president.

He quipped, “Mr MC, just so you know, whenever Mr President is present, I’m just the chairman — not the president. Whether it’s a small ‘p’ or a tiny one, please don’t call me president. Thank you.”

Dangote then turned to President Tinubu, offering a light-hearted apology: “I’m sorry sir, he called me president. I didn’t permit him to say that, sir.”

Meanwhile, Dangote praised President Tinubu’s bold economic policies, describing them as impactful and promising. He commended reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy, tax overhauls, and the “Nigeria First” policy, saying they have rekindled optimism for the nation’s future.

He added that once the benefits of these policies begin to materialize, Nigerians will be eager to visit Aso Rock to thank the President in person.
