President Tinubu is expected to deliberate on the government and private sector’s proposed ₦62,000 wage and the labour unions’ demand for ₦250,000. Despite challenges, Trade Union Congress President Festus Osifo clarified that negotiations are ongoing and dismissed claims that talks have collapsed.

Osifo emphasized that discussions involve various stakeholders such as the Nigerian Governors Forum, Local Government Administrators, the Organised Private Sector, and Labour Unions. He reaffirmed the unions’ stance on the ₦250,000 demand, originally proposed by the Presidential Tripartite Committee on New National Minimum Wage in January 2024, noting progress since negotiations commenced, despite the initial two-year process to establish the current ₦30,000 minimum wage.
