Tinubu Meets Political Titans! Hosts Class Of 1999 Governors In Historic Aso Villa Gathering

Former Delta State Governor, James Ibori, on Friday led members of the 1999 class of governors to a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

This was revealed by the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, in a post shared on his (formerly Twitter) account.

President Tinubu, who was Lagos State Governor from 1999 to 2007, is part of the group of governors elected during Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999—a class widely regarded for shaping the foundation of the Fourth Republic.

Although the full details of their closed-door meeting remain undisclosed at the time of reporting, the visit is believed to be part of Tinubu’s continued engagement with influential political figures across the country.

Meanwhile, during the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the State House, President Tinubu charged APC governors to intensify efforts in delivering tangible development to the people.

He noted growing public dissatisfaction with the pace of grassroots governance, urging:

“Nigerians are still complaining at the grassroots. To you, the governors, you have to wet the grass more and lead the way in delivering progressive change to Nigerians. May God bless our democracy and give us more fertile lands.”

Stressing the importance of collective leadership, Tinubu advocated for the establishment of a progressive governors’ committee to collaborate with the FCT Minister in securing land for a new APC national secretariat.

“We must leave a legacy of development,” Tinubu said, emphasizing unity and purposeful governance.
