Speaking at the 2024 Niger Delta Stakeholders’ Summit in Port Harcourt, Tinubu, represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, emphasized that the summit, themed “Renewed Hope for Sustainable Development of the Niger Delta Region,” marks a pivotal moment.

“This administration brings renewed hope and prosperity, marking a season of opportunity,” Tinubu expressed. “It is our time to shine. To achieve enduring solutions, we must overcome divisions. Unity among the people of the Niger Delta and the entire nation is not just desirable but essential. Through our collective vision, we can surmount the challenges ahead.”

“The President is deeply committed to the Niger Delta’s development,” he continued. “The completion of the East-West Road is a top priority. The National Assembly, represented here today, will ensure every effort is made to achieve this critical infrastructure milestone.”

Tinubu also highlighted the commencement of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project, which will begin simultaneously from Lagos and the Niger Delta, ensuring comprehensive connectivity.

He emphasized the Niger Delta’s potential in agriculture, particularly in rice production and fish farming, suggesting that focusing on these sectors could enhance regional self-sufficiency and contribute significantly to national food security.

“The Niger Delta’s identity should not solely revolve around oil wealth but also celebrate its agricultural prowess,” Tinubu concluded, underscoring a holistic approach to regional development.
