The President made this declaration while receiving Letters of Credence from 17 ambassadors and four high commissioners at the Council Chamber of the State House. The statement was released on Thursday by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

President Tinubu urged the diplomats to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on areas of shared interest and mutual benefit, stressing his open-door policy.

“On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, I warmly welcome you to the State House and congratulate you on your appointments as the official representatives of your countries,” he said. “Nigeria values longstanding friendships and strategic partnerships worldwide. Your accreditation today reinforces the depth of our bilateral ties and our shared commitment to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.”

Speaking on behalf of the diplomats, Japan’s Ambassador, Suzuki Hideo, described the presentation of Letters of Credence in Nigeria as historic and significant, given the country’s pivotal role in ECOWAS and Africa.

“We are honored to present our Letters of Credence today, marking a new chapter in deepening relations with Nigeria,” he said. “We also commend President Tinubu’s visionary leadership and commitment to economic transformation, including reforms that strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal framework, attract investment, and promote inclusiveness. His efforts to enhance national security through intensified counter-terrorism strategies are particularly noteworthy.”

The 17 ambassadors who presented their Letters of Credence were: Suzuki Hideo (Japan), Brah Mahamat (Chad), Rodolf Estime Lekogo (Gabon), Mehmet Poroy (Türkiye), Muhannad M.A. Alhammouri (Palestine), Felix Costales Artioda (Spain), Banbang Suharto (Indonesia), Ba Abdoulaaye Mamadou (Mauritania), Peter Guschelbauer (Austria), Thirapath Mongkolnavin (Thailand), Miah M.D. Mainul Kabir (Bangladesh, High Commissioner-Designate), Anna Westerholm (Sweden), Tomas Vyprachticky (Czech Republic), and John Ballout Jr. (Liberia).
