Tinubu Reveals Why Violence Erupted In Orire During Visit To Olubadan

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday received the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rasheed Ladoja, and members of the Olubadan-in-Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

During the meeting, the President urged the traditional ruler to encourage state governors to prioritise projects that directly improve the welfare of citizens instead of constructing flyovers in locations where they are not economically justified or needed to ease traffic congestion.

Tinubu stressed that governors should channel more resources toward initiatives that enhance living standards and strengthen security across their states.

The President also spoke on the recent rescue of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Orire, Oyo State, saying the operation was successfully carried out without the payment of ransom.

According to him, security agencies relied on intelligence and detailed knowledge of the terrain where the victims were being held to secure their release.

Tinubu disclosed that the Federal Government is expanding the Nigerian military from eight to 12 divisions to improve response times and strengthen operations against terrorism, banditry and other security threats nationwide.

He further revealed that the kidnappers demanded the release of some of their detained gang members, in addition to seeking ransom, as conditions for freeing the victims.

The President said the government rejected the demands, insisting it would not negotiate with criminal groups or release suspects already in custody.

Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to confronting insecurity and maintaining pressure on criminal networks through strengthened security operations and enhanced military capacity.
