Presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale confirmed that President Tinubu will briefly stop in Dubai before heading to Beijing. During his visit, he will hold high-level discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with plans to sign multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) that cover areas such as green economy, agriculture, satellite technology, media development, blue economic growth, and national planning.

Additionally, the President will address broader topics including economic collaboration, security, and global issues. The Chinese government is ready to welcome Tinubu at Beijing Capital International Airport, according to Ngelale.

Tinubu’s itinerary includes visits to major Chinese corporations such as Huawei Technologies and the China Rail and Construction Corporation (CRCC), focusing on advancing the Ibadan to Abuja segment of the Lagos to Kano high-speed rail project. He will also meet with executives from ten major Chinese firms, which manage assets exceeding $3 trillion USD, spanning sectors like ICT, oil and gas, aluminum production, seaport construction, financial services, and satellite technology.

Ngelale emphasized that the visit is expected to deliver significant short- and long-term benefits for Nigeria, reflecting Tinubu’s commitment to economic development. Tinubu will also participate in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit from September 4 to 6, where he will represent the ECOWAS Authority and address regional security and development issues.
