Tinubu Sends Stern Message To Yoruba Nation Agitators: Prepare To Face Consequences

President Bola Tinubu has issued a stern warning to ethnic agitators posing a threat to Nigeria’s sovereignty and unity, asserting that they will face the full consequences of their actions.

His warning comes in response to the recent invasion of the Oyo State House of Assembly Complex in Agodi, Ibadan, by Yoruba Nation agitators, who, in a widely circulated video clip, proclaimed the independence of the ‘Democratic Republic of the Yoruba.’

During a meeting with leaders of the Yoruba socio-cultural group Afenifere, led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti, Tinubu expressed his reaction to the incident. He emphasized, “Those who think they can threaten Nigeria’s sovereignty will bear the consequences. They will have a price to pay, and we will not back down.”

Highlighting his administration’s strides in combating insurgency across the nation, Tinubu reiterated his unwavering commitment to fighting criminal elements. He stressed, “I am firmly dedicated to Nigeria’s unity and constitutional democracy. Since assuming office, we have seen significant progress in upholding constitutional democracy. Currently, we confront the challenge of terrorism.”

Tinubu noted the imperative of ensuring security for life and property, underscoring the achievements made in combating terrorism. He asserted, “We have substantially weakened terrorism to a point where it no longer poses a threat to Nigeria’s sovereignty. Banditry and kidnapping will be defeated, and ransom payments will not be entertained. We are intensifying efforts in intelligence gathering, yielding results at a rapid pace.”

In a separate development, nightlife entrepreneur Okechukwu Paschal, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has contested his trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), citing objections before the court.
