The Lead Pastor of Citadel Global Community Church and former presidential aspirant, Tunde Bakare, has called on President Bola Tinubu to issue a public apology to communities suffering the impact of widespread insecurity.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Bakare made the appeal on Sunday while delivering his State of the Nation Address in Lagos.
He explained that such an apology would symbolize the government’s commitment to justice, healing, and national reconciliation.
According to him, although the president has taken some steps toward addressing insecurity, much more must be done to rebuild public confidence. He stressed that the government must first acknowledge decades of failure to safeguard Nigerians from terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes.
Bakare recommended a comprehensive plan that includes establishing a Victims and Survivors Register, issuing a national apology to affected communities within three months, and providing midterm compensation. He emphasized that accountability is essential to restoring trust and breaking the cycle of violence.
In another part of his address, Bakare alleged that former U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) due to America’s interest in Nigeria’s oil sector. He claimed Trump’s administration viewed the nation’s oil, mineral resources, and key sectors like real estate as central to its strategic objectives.
Bakare also recalled a vision he had shortly after Trump won the 2024 U.S. election, in which the American leader arrived in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, aboard Air Force One, dressed in Arabian attire and declaring, “We are here now.” He interpreted the revelation as a sign of the strong interest Trump would show in Nigeria, tied to Middle East politics, oil and gas, real estate, and the nation’s fast-growing tech landscape.
