Tinubu Shuts Down Katsina! Governor Declares Public Holiday For Presidential Visit

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has announced Friday as a public holiday to enable civil servants to take part in welcoming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is scheduled to visit the state for the commissioning of several landmark projects executed by the current administration.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Naija News, Governor Radda made the declaration on Thursday during his speech at the 2025 International Workers’ Day celebration, organized by the state chapter of organized labour.

Expressing his enthusiasm over the President’s visit, Radda said, “I am delighted to announce that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be in Katsina State tomorrow to inaugurate a number of significant projects we have accomplished over the past two years. Therefore, I declare tomorrow a work-free day to allow civil servants to participate in giving him a warm and respectful welcome.”

The announcement was warmly received by state workers, who welcomed the opportunity to witness the official commissioning of developmental projects.

Speaking on this year’s Workers’ Day theme, “Reclaiming the Civic Space Amid Economic Hardship,” the governor applauded the resilience and commitment of Katsina’s workforce despite the nation’s economic difficulties. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of workers across the state.

At the same event held at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, the Katsina State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and organized labour urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts in securing farming communities across the state.

NLC Chairman Hussaini Yanduna emphasized the importance of safety for farmers to operate freely, saying, “We believe security has significantly improved due to the government’s clear commitment.” He also commended Governor Radda for consistently addressing workers’ concerns, especially the timely payment of pensioners’ gratuities at both state and local government levels, and tackling outstanding pension arrears.
