Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, the former Abia State Governor alleged that the renewed surge in terrorist activity is politically motivated, driven by power-hungry elites dissatisfied with the current government and intent on seizing control.

Kalu described the situation as a politically driven conflict, stressing that the backers of Boko Haram are not primarily motivated by money, but by a desire to dismantle the system and capture power.

He called on Nigerians to embrace unity and patriotism, warning against actions that sabotage national progress for selfish political ambition.

“The political class is behind Boko Haram. They’re using terrorism as a political weapon against Tinubu, just as they did with past administrations,” he said. “This includes former governors, politicians, influential businessmen, and senior civil servants.”

“These people are not in it for money—they’re after control. This is a political war meant to wreck the system and pave the way for a power grab,” he added.

Kalu emphasized that Nigeria’s worsening security situation is politically engineered. He urged fellow citizens to prioritize national interest, stressing that collective effort is required to rebuild the country.

“If we claim to be patriots and friends of Nigeria, then our focus should be on the wellbeing of ordinary citizens. We must come together to strengthen our nation, not destroy it from within,” he concluded.
