Tinubu Vs Atiku: President Fires Fresh Broadside, Says He’s Fixing Their “Mess” (VIDEO)

President Bola Tinubu has taken another swipe at African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, accusing the administration in which the former vice president served of leaving behind unresolved pension obligations following the privatisation of public enterprises.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The President made the remarks on Thursday while receiving governors and political stakeholders from the North-East who paid him a thank-you visit after he retained Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking at the event, Tinubu said his administration had been addressing the challenges inherited from previous governments, including the payment of pensions to workers affected by the privatisation programme implemented during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

According to him, while government investments in public enterprises were privatised at the time, adequate provisions were not made for the affected pensioners.

“One of my prospective opponents participated in the privatisation of government investments in public enterprises but forgot to pay the pensioners. Today, I am paying those pensioners and cleaning up the mess that was left behind, but I will not complain,” the President said.

Tinubu reiterated his commitment to sustaining his administration’s reform agenda, stressing that national development would continue to be driven by unity and inclusiveness.

He said Nigeria must continue to harness its diversity as a source of strength while pursuing policies aimed at improving the country’s economic and social conditions.

Meanwhile, an aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has claimed that officials in the administration of United States President Donald Trump have been made aware of court documents relating to President Tinubu’s alleged past legal records in the US.

According to earlier reports, Washington-based lobbying firm Von Batten-Montague-York L.C. disclosed that it had begun circulating United States Department of Justice records relating to a decades-old civil forfeiture case involving Tinubu to officials of the Trump administration and members of the US Congress.

The firm said the documents were being shared with senior administration officials, lawmakers and congressional aides in an effort to draw attention to allegations contained in filings made by US authorities during investigations conducted in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Reacting in a post on his X account on Wednesday, Ibe alleged that a 60-page US Department of Justice file relating to allegations of heroin trafficking and the forfeiture of $460,000 involving Tinubu had been brought to President Trump’s attention through the lobbying firm.
