The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expanded its presidential campaign council for the 2027 general election, naming Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo among those assigned key responsibilities.

President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate the revised campaign council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday as the ruling party intensifies preparations for the forthcoming election.

Under the new arrangement, Wike will coordinate campaign activities in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, while Soludo and Adeleke will oversee the party’s campaign efforts in Anambra and Osun states, respectively.

The appointments have attracted attention because Wike belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Soludo was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Adeleke secured re-election in August on the Accord Party platform.

The revised council also names Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola as Deputy National Coordinator I, with responsibility for stakeholder mobilisation in the South-West.

The latest appointments represent changes to the campaign structure initially announced on August 22, with several senior political figures assigned new leadership positions.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq have been named Deputy Vice-Chairmen I, II and III, respectively.

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni will serve as Deputy Director-General I for the North, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has been appointed Deputy Director-General II for the region.

Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu will serve as Deputy Directors-General I and II for the South, respectively. Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari was named Director-General in the original council announcement.

The revised arrangement also designates all 32 APC governors as campaign coordinators in their respective states. In states where the party has designated governorship candidates, some of the candidates have also been assigned campaign coordination responsibilities.

In Oyo State, APC governorship candidate Sharafadeen Alli will coordinate campaign activities, while Mohammed Abubakar and Chijioke Chukwu have been given similar responsibilities in Bauchi and Abia states, respectively.

The campaign council further includes 14 advisers drawn from different areas of political and public service. They include former APC National Chairman Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Segun Osoba, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, former senator Florence Ita-Giwa, former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, former APC National Secretary Iyiola Omisore, and former Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun.

The expanded structure comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 general election. According to the revised timetable cited in the announcement, campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections began on August 19 and are scheduled to end on January 14, 2027.

Tinubu is expected to face several challengers, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to Bush Radio Academy, the revised campaign council reflects the APC’s efforts to broaden its political mobilisation network ahead of the 2027 presidential election, bringing together party officials, governors and politicians from other political platforms.
