Tinubu’s Aide Blasts Atiku For Politicizing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Presidential aide Dada Olusegun has strongly criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for his recent remarks regarding the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. Atiku had suggested that the Bola Tinubu administration was involved in dubious activities concerning the project, emphasizing secrecy and personal interests over public infrastructure.
In response, Olusegun, speaking in an interview with The Punch, dismissed Atiku’s claims as “erroneous” and “irresponsible.” He refuted Atiku’s allegations, stating that the administration led by Tinubu prioritizes national development over personal gain.
Atiku, however, doubled down on his criticisms, questioning the transparency of the project’s funding and the decision to award the contract without competitive bidding. He expressed concerns about the significant allocation of public funds to the project amidst Nigeria’s economic challenges.
In a subsequent statement, Olusegun countered Atiku’s assertions, highlighting what he perceived as factual inaccuracies in Atiku’s understanding of the project. He clarified that Atiku had confused the Lagos-Calabar Railway with the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, demonstrating a lack of comprehension regarding the infrastructure initiatives.
Olusegun emphasized that the Lagos-Calabar Railway and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road are distinct projects, with the former dating back to the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, not Goodluck Jonathan as Atiku had suggested. He further explained that the project operates under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with initial government investment and ongoing funding negotiations with contractors.
Asserting the administration’s commitment to development, Olusegun urged Atiku to refrain from engaging in what he termed “criticism-by-force” politics and instead support initiatives aimed at advancing the nation’s progress.
In conclusion, Olusegun emphasized the importance of informed critique and a focus on genuine development efforts, urging stakeholders to prioritize national interests over political rhetoric.
