Unofficial sources have revealed that President Tinubu is planning to divert his route to Abu Dhabi before he lands in Abuja. This significant trip, yet to be publicly announced, will have the President accompanied by Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo (SAN), along with other influential officials.
A look back at recent events showcases the strain between the two nations. In October 2022, Emirates Airlines stopped its flight operations to Nigeria. The reason cited was Nigeria’s failure to allow the repatriation of locked funds. Emphasizing the importance of bilateral ties, Tinubu expressed his personal commitment to address and resolve this disagreement when he met the UAE Ambassador, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi, last August.
Drawing attention to the historical and familial ties between the two nations, Tinubu was quoted saying, “We are a family with UAE, we only live in separate rooms, but we are in the same house.
