In a surprising turn of events, President Tinubu has instructed Governor Fubara to officially recognize Martin Amaewhule as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Additionally, the President has ordered the acknowledgment of the other 26 members who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as legitimate members of the Assembly. Tinubu has further mandated that their salaries be promptly paid.

This development follows unconfirmed reports that President Bola Tinubu is presently engaged in a closed-door meeting with Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Accompanying Governor Fubara to the seat of power is the former governor of Rivers State, Sir Peter Odili, and other key stakeholders from the state. The President’s intervention is seen as an effort to resolve the ongoing conflict between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
