Tiwa Savage Opens Up At Last: The Truth Behind Her Fallout With Seyi Shay

Speaking on Off Air with Gbemi O and Toolz in a recent interview uploaded on Saturday, the Somebody’s Son hitmaker explained that the tension between her and Seyi Shay originated from a diss track and rumours that she had deliberately hindered the success of other female artistes in the industry.

Tiwa, however, firmly denied ever trying to block anyone’s progress, stressing that she has always supported women.

“If you do something to me, I’ll confront you directly. I don’t have to pretend online. So, when she approached me in the salon after doing a diss track, I couldn’t act like everything was fine,” Tiwa said.

The Afrobeats queen revealed she was hurt and confused by the claims that she had tried to “block bags” for Seyi Shay and Victoria Kimani.

“That was painful because I didn’t understand where it came from. I still think maybe I need to have a proper conversation with Shay.
“I heard they believed I blocked their bag — how? If anyone says I did, name the person so I can address it. I’d never do that; I’m all for women,” she clarified.

Tiwa further recalled how she actually lost a major endorsement deal to Seyi Shay years ago while she was pregnant with her son, Jamil.

“When I got pregnant, I was dropped from the Pepsi ‘Longer Throat’ campaign and Shay was picked instead. You can even check — she became a brand ambassador, I wasn’t. I didn’t get angry; I just hit the gym and bounced back,” she recounted.

The viral salon confrontation between Tiwa and Seyi in 2021 remains one of the most talked-about celebrity feuds in Nigeria’s entertainment scene.

Although Seyi Shay previously claimed she tried to reconcile, Tiwa’s latest remarks suggest that the bad blood between them may have been fuelled by deep-rooted misunderstandings and industry gossip dating as far back as 2017, when Seyi reportedly took a jab at her in the viral “Fvck You” challenge by Kizz Daniel.
