Popular Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has debunked widespread claims that she deliberately released her sex tape to stay relevant in the entertainment scene.

In October 2021, the Afrobeats star trended globally after her private video was leaked online by a blackmailer. Despite being the victim, Tiwa faced heavy criticism, with many accusing her of seeking attention.

Speaking in a recent interview with American radio station Hot 97, Tiwa Savage clarified that if her intention was to chase clout or sympathy, the tape would have been more deliberate.

“I was dragged because of that sex video. A lot of people assumed I wanted pity. Even people with influence spoke horribly about me and blamed me. They claimed I did it for relevance. If that was the case, I would’ve been intentional about it—I would’ve had proper lighting, lingerie, and my facial expressions would have been perfect,” she said.

In another revelation, Tiwa Savage disclosed that she once dated a popular figure who forced her to keep their relationship a secret. Speaking on The JMatt Show, she explained that the man insisted they act like strangers in public, even openly mingling with others while she was present.

The singer admitted the situation was emotionally draining, as she often had to endure his behavior in silence to protect the secret relationship.
